I am amazed when some people pass the NRA table and make comments like:

• I don't own a gun and don't need the NRA, yet they are shopping at a gun show or a sporting goods store.
  

Personally, I have nothing against the GOA, state and local organizations devoted to the fight for the Second Amendment rights.

We are all in the fight for freedom and to maintain the Constitution. The president and congress seem intent to circumvent the Constitution and its intent, and its limitations. For Washington, it would seem they spend most of their time in searching out ways for the government to rule outside the constraints of the Constitution.

The value of the NRA is threefold:

• The NRA has led the legal fight to limit government intrusion in the courts and in the arena of special interest lobbying.
  
• The NRA has teamed with companies like Cabela's in offering great savings and discounts in NRA membership and sporting products.
• The NRA has great products and services, like Armscare and Life and Accident insurance, gifts, and a great products store.

No organization will ever be perfect to all people, no candidate for office will ascend without some flaw. Perfection is found elsewhere. The fact remains, it is your membership and support of the local recruiters, Friends, and stores that offer memberships that keeps the fight for the Constitution alive and political.

As one recruiter once said to me, "It's time to get out of the wagon of freedom and time to help pull it."
